The validation of HCHO vertical columns is based on:

Comparison with other HCHO satellite datasets, such as GOME, SCIAMACHY and OMI instruments and on a step-by-step verification of the operational product against a scientific GOME-2 HCHO retrieval (De Smedt et al., 2012) for the individual components leading to the total vertical column.
Direct comparison with ground-based MAXDOAS and/or FTIR instruments at different BIRA stations, such as Beijing, Reunion Island and OHP;
